How does Page Rank affect your SEO campaign?

When you are dealing with SEO tactics, you will come to realize that you are dealing with a very subjective topic. People in the industry have different views on what works and what doesn’t. There are very few, set in stone, industry rules. Most people go by the credo, “whatever works for you”. Even on the topic of Google’s Page Rank algorithm, opinions differ wildly. Some people will say that the PR ranking of a web site holds no real meaning. Others will say that it is the most important factor to help establish your web site in Google’s search algorithm. Both sides may be over stressing their point of view, but the fact remains people have not entirely figured out how much of an affect that PR has.
The one thing that we do know, is Google ranks your site by a level of importance. If they feel that your web page deals directly with a keyword and is considered an important page by others, your site will get a higher search result. Your site is considered important by the status of the web pages that are linking to you. This has been proven over and over again. But you have to ask, what led to the higher rank in the search results? Was it the keywords that you used on the page or is it the page rank that your site received. This is the question that everyone believes they have answer for but they all turn out to be different.
The best thing to do in a case such as this, is to be on the safe side. Your best bet is to try to link with sites that have a higher page rank than you and build your web page’s level of importance up. Even if it does not have the affect that some believe it should, at the very least, you know that it will not hurt matters either. Once you do that, you will at least have your basis covered. As long as you also keep using well defined keywords, you are sure to be listed in a prominent position in Google’s search results.
We do know that there is one way Page Rank can affect your SEO campaign. This is by how other people perceive your site. If you have a good page rank, other people will love to trade links with your web site. The more links that you are able to build up, the more Google’s algorithm will come to believe that you are important. This is a very good thing when it comes to your SEO campaign. With people coming to you for links, instead of you always having to chase them, it will make things a lot easier.
Nobody knows how big of a role, Google’s PR plays in your SEO campaign. The one thing that we do know, is that it has an affect, no matter how big. Since this is the case, do your best to be able to gain a high PR ranking from Google. At the very least, it can’t hurt.
